All the Forever Things

This has been one crazy spring!

All the Forever Things, known for the previous two years as my “funeral home girl book” was released April 1, 2017.

Gabe is a lovely, awkward girl, who is (I will admit) a little more of myself than I’ve done before. Awkward, a little naive, with a great family, and very few friends. This is a story about a girl who has found a happy place and wants nothing to change, but life always does, and Gabe reacts terrible, as we often do.

Friendships in high school are funny things, and we allow far too many small issues get in the way of what could be great friendships. We also get distracted by things like shiny new projects, or…cute boys.

When I first started this project, I wanted this to be an ADDAMS FAMILY meets a JOHN HUGHES movie. And while readers will come up with their own ideas, assessment, and feelings about this book, those are still mine.

I could write in this setting for a very long time.

You can find Gabe’s (Gabriella) story on AMAZON and BARNES AND NOBLE.

Thank you!

5 Things: FATED

Sometimes we have to write a project JUST FOR FUN. This is one of those projects…

Things I love about FATED:

  1. My collaboration partner. She is perfectly amazing, and we had FAR too much fun together.
  2. I’ve always hated the idea that a god would give up everything for a mortal girl, so we wrote what happens when the god is like – Yeah, I love you, but I’m not giving up immortality for you…
  3. ART. I love writing artists – they provide such a fantastic view of the world.
  4. FRIENDS. Cy’s best friend, Curo. (Mercuro, the messenger god) He makes me swoon. And Zarah has a tough-as-nails bestie.
  5. There’s a scene, near the end, that makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME. EVERY TIME. But it’s so worth it for the end, and you don’t have to trust me on that 😉

Until you discover the truth in love you will only be half. Until you find the one who makes you whole.

Cassius, the god of love, is stripped of his status and left as a demi-god with a quiver full of arrows and a riddle he’s no closer to solving. When he fell in love with a mortal, he thought he’d broken the curse. But when he chose godhood over the woman he loved, Cassius ended up in servitude to the Sisters of Fate, tormented by his mistakes.

Zarah copes with her abusive past by painting a world that feels more familiar than the one she lives in. Her mind often wanders to a handsome stranger that would sit with her in the dark and relive his deepest heartbreak to ease her own. She paints him again and again, but when her paintings come to life around her, Zarah’s grip on reality begins to slip.

Zarah and Cassius are more deeply intertwined than either of them could have imagined, but it’s not Fate’s plan that threatens their future. With the safety of their loved ones at stake, they might have to sacrifice the one thing they want most…each other.

AJ Brooks is the collaborative efforts of authors Allison Martin (A.I. Martin) and Jolene Perry.

They bonded fast over hair color and complex, bad-a heroines vowing someday to write a book together…they’ve now written three. Their debut FATED, out now.

Together they are two sides of a coin. World and character. Magic and reality. Adventure and romance. Light and dark. Good and evil.

We’ll leave you to figure out which is which.

You can find them talking about their love of strange things and speculative fiction in their Facebook group REALITY TWISTED

So. My very cool granddad passed away. I’m going to miss him terribly. I looked up to him so much and have always wanted to write as well as him. The upside was that I got to spend the weekend with family that I don’t see often.

My kids start school in ONE WEEK. I’m both sad and excited, making me wonder if things are always mixed. I’m looking forward to having TIME TO WRITE but I’m sad about the schedule and making two lunches and two breakfasts every day…

THREE – books…

I’ve barely read anything. I’m working on THE SUMMER OF CHASING MERMAIDS which is super fun but by the time I’ve made it home lately, I just CRASH. I’ve been to the bookstore three times lately and have bought nothing for myself because I own so many books I’m excited about reading. Dire times, people…

Might be a wee bit obsessed with SUPERNATURAL. How did I not trust so many people telling me I’d love that show? I love that show. Started season 4 last night.

FIVE – what I’m working on…

Got my cover for Love Blind. It’s simple and perfect, and I’ll share soon. Am excited about my next YA that Albert Whitman bought (fall 2016). I’m SUPER happy that my little novella under Jolene Betty Perry is selling so well (Mismatched In Love: Almost Cinderella) because I love it when I write something for fun and people have fun reading it.

SIX – HAS TO BE LOVE IS OUT IN HARDBACK!!! The ebook will be available September 1st! SOOOO excited/terrified to have Clara’s story in the world.

What’s everyone else been up to?
